Indecisive

I am sick again. May hasn't been a good health month so far. I thought as I was stuck on the sofa I might finally get this finished. Alas I am hopelessly indecisive . . . I am starting to get sick of this piece as it is becoming a source of torment. Must finish it soon!

Please leave a comment I would really appreciate some feedback. Thanks

(ps sorry the gif flicks a bit fast, but you get the idea. If you click the image it will link to the latest version)

leaves, I love it Roland, what are you indecisive about? The second and third frame? I like the dresser half way up the wall and the little tea set, exquisite! maybe the light posters are distracting at the bottom where the attention should be drawn towards the open door. Maybe a couple of the framed pictures instead might knock that wall back a bit?

... or a victorian fireplace?

It is mainly the bottom of the picture. I did try a fireplace but it detracted from Alice in the leaves. Just need a little something for the space between the dresser and floor. Then I just need to go around and tighten up the details - redraw the upper cabinet, pattern the tea set, improve the steam and work out what objects and detail to adorn the dresser . . . sound like so much

i like the amount of detail in the open cupboard of the dresser, reminds me of the backgrounds in 101 dalmations (the original animated film). Hmmmm, maybe two pot plants in the corners, pointing inwards, framing her on the floor, and bring out the pattern in the wallpaper? you dont want anything too solid right in the middle do you

It's funny but I had wanted to do a 101 Dalmations kind of treatment when I started but I feel in to that obvious photoshop trap of over working/embelishing. I will try out the pots idea tonight. Cheers

Based on what you already have there, I'd probably have the picture frame on the bottom left wall like you've done although make it a bit taller in height, have the cane/umbrella stand in the bottom right foreground with really simple shapes/not so much detail, and something small but detailed in the bottom right background like a few neatly arranged pairs of slippers or something, offset slightly to the left of the cane/umbrella stand so they aren't obscured. I'd also keep the bottom skirting around the walls. This might fill the empty space around Alice, balance the image and stop eyes wandering out of the picture, but not look too 'arranged' and symmetrical. I dunno.
