Week 2 of 10 - Mother and Baby

We had two models this week. A mother and baby. It was an interesting session. The baby meant more shorter poses (5-10mins) which I quite liked. I wasn't happy with most of these during the session but actually they aren't that bad. The drawings are a bit more confident this week but no great change. Next week I'll aim to challenge myself a bit more.

Yeehaw

I did these this afternoon. A little bit of gunslinging after two days crashed out on the sofa. Too tired to tackle Alice.

Week 1 of 10

Three 7min warm up poses

20min drawing from a 45min pose (took me a while to get in to it)

Started a ten week life drawing course this evening, courtesy of work. It wasn't a great session for good drawings but it has given me lots of room for improvement and many things to think about in the coming weeks. Proportion is the first thing to ge sorted.

I really love life drawing. Two hours just flew by. Can't wait for next week.

Stuck

Getting frustrated with myself for not having finished this yet but I am struggling (faffing) with the lower half. It's come along so much better than I hoped I don't want to spoil it. This weekend is going to be super busy so Alice will probably get neglected again . . .

170th Post

Sketches done during lunch today.

170 posts! Blimey, that's rather a lot. I only really mentioned it because I missed 150 which seemed like something of a landmark. But I was quite suprised to realize that I only started this blog a year ago. I shall have to have a look back over it all soon and take stock. I wonder sometimes if I should just make significant posts but then I quite like scribbley 'diary' entries. So I imagine I'll doodle my way past 200 soon.

a pause

Took a break from this at the weekend. This is where I'm up to. Hopefully pick up steam again this week. The weather is good though so I might go outside sketching at lunch.

Before and After

I have been busy improving the overall quality and removing the under drawing. It's slowish work but thanks to the laptop I get quite a bit done during the commute to work.

Sleepy Sunday

"click me"

I wasn't going to post an update until I finished but I've got caught up in the details and would be suprised if I finish before the end of the week. Still working a few things out but mostly just need to get my head down now and finish it. May get my head down and have a little nap first though . . .

Alice instead

"click me"

I was supposed to go out dancing tonight but got involved with Alice instead. I really didn't fancy catching the night bus either. I still have a lot to do with this picture but its really coming on. Worth staying home for.

Update . . . thoughts?

A bit of additional work. Don't know if it's actually better. I'm thinking the wallpaper is a bit to distracting . . . I'd be interested to know what people think.

Alice in Colour WIP

Just started doing some colour on the Alice drawings I did over Christmas. Still early days but quite appealing I think.

Doodles

Some sketches on the Tablet-PC. Haven't used it much this week as I've been enjoying good old pen and paper. Also busy with digital illustrations for work. Pleased with these though. Nice just to do some doodling.

Brunch at Seven Dials

Took the day off today and what a beautiful day it is. Summer sun. I sat out on the round-a-bout at Seven Dials and did these sketches. Forgot how hard it was to draw moving people. You've got to be quick and get good lines down, no second chances. Working in felt tip forces me to makes clean lines because indecisive lines in felt tip look so messy and I don't like that . . . Anyway challenging and fun.
